What is Article Galaxy Scholar and how do I use it?
Answer
Overview
Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) is a pay-per-use service that gives Kenrick immediate, online access to tens of millions of articles from over 30,000 academic journals across the disciplines. All AGS content is fully integrated into the library's discovery tools and can be accessed on the library website through the SouvaySearch tab.
Note: Even if you are on campus, you will need to log in using your email address and library PIN to download your article. Click here if you need to set up your PIN.
AGS ensures that Kenrick can have access to a massive collection of journals and fill gaps in our core journal coverage through EBSCO Databases and JSTOR, all while only paying for the articles we use. To ensure proper financial stewardship of this resource, seminarians have different download limits. Faculty have unlimited access, but are encouraged to use interlibrary loan (ILL) if their need is not time-sensitive. For an overview of AGS access policies, please click here.
Follow the steps below to find and download articles from AGS.
Steps
1. Go to the library website (library.kenrick.edu), log in if you are off-campus (the login portal is in the upper right corner), and select the SouvaySearch tab. Enter your keywords or complete article titles, click the "Search" button to the right, and scroll down to view results.

2. You will see content available through AGS in the Articles box. Underneath the entry, you will see an Article Galaxy button and a Request Form button. If your need is not time-sensitive, click the Request Form button, and that form will go to the library office. If your need is time-sensitive, click on the Article Galaxy button.

3. You will be prompted to log in using your Kenrick (or Augustine Institute) email address in lowercase letters and your self-chosen library PIN. Click on "Login."

4. Once you are logged in, you will see an AGS page with the title of your article, a note about the cost of the article, a link to the request form, and a button that says "Request PDF." If you are sure that you want this article, click on that button. You will get both immediate access to a PDF of the article and an email confirmation that will include a link to the PDF.
5. Finally, please note: AGS functions as a document delivery and interlibrary loan (ILL) request system. It is programmed to appear with items to which we do not have access. Just because you see an "Article Galaxy" button does not always mean that we have direct access to that article through AGS. In situations like that, your best bet is to click on the "Request Form" button. If you do click on "Article Galaxy," you will see a button that says "Go to Interlibrary Loan." Either click on that to send a request for the article to the library, or close the tab and click on the "Request Form" button on the SouvaySearch results.
